New RMP 24-Hr Course Available for PHCC Texas Registration beginning JANUARY 16, 2012
As of January 1, 2012, the TSBPE adopted an amendment (Section 363.13) that requires all RMP’s who did not have a valid Certificate of Insurance on file as of Jan. 1, 2012, to complete 24 hours of required, TSBPE mandated curriculum by an approved provider, such as PHCC. Our first 3-Day course will be given March 2, 3 & 4 here in Buda at PHCC Texas Headquarters (7:30 to 4:30 pm). Registration begins JAN. 16, 2012. Reduced room rates for PHCC students for area hotels. The proposed new rule for Responsible Master Plumbers was adopted by TSBPE on Jan 9, 2012, requiring potential RMPs to complete a minimum of 24 hours training by a board approved provider whose curriculum fulfills the outlined subject matter outlined under Section 1301.3576 of the Plumbing License Law. The course must include the following subjects applicable to the operation of a plumbing business in this state: Finance; Legal; Local, state and federal rules and regulations; Insurance/bonds, including Workman’s Compensation Insurance; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Requirements Awareness and Customer Service.
Additionally, if you were operating as a Responsible Master Plumber prior to January 1, 2012 but did not have on file with the plumbing board a certificate of insurance, you are NOT exempt from this requirement. Your certificate had to have been valid and on file for the upcoming year on or before JANUARY 1, 2012.
